Calendar Submissions.

You can submit dates to be included in the calendar for any event that would be of interest to members of the UK Pirate Brotherhood, (and it is up to participants in the Brotherhood to dictate what is relevant.)

Whilst some calendar entries will simply be items that are of interest to users of this website, others could be notifications of pending events posted to attract the participation of other groups. Therefore the information required will vary depending on the type of event, for example the release date of a new pirate film will not require a Venue, so please use your common sense when supplying information for the calendar.

Please send the following information for entry on the UK Pirate Brotherhood calendar.

  1. DATE - The date of the event.
  2. EVENT TITLE - The name of the event, to go at the head of the calendar entry.
  3. VENUE - The location where the event is taking place.
  4. VENUE DETAILS - Additional information about the event location, including (For example) website & directions.
  5. DESCRIPTION - A brief description of what the event is all about.
  6. EVENT TYPE - If the calendar event is one which may attract enquiries from others seeking to participate, please indicate the type of event. (See list below) Plus additional information for those wishing to participate.
  7. EVENT CONACT - Contact details for those seeking to participate.
  8. VENUE CONTACT - Contact details for those wishing to come to see the event
  9. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - Anything else that you may consider appropriate.
  10. PICTURE - You may also include one small picture to illustrate your calendar entry. (We reserve the right to crop or resize this picture if we need to.)

If you are listing an event that may attract the interest of other enactment groups or individuals wishing to participate, there are certain requirements that will need to be established. To this end, here are a number of classifications that can be applied to re-enactment events. These are as follows.

  1. Society Only - (S.O.) - These events are limited to members of the organising society, please do not ask if you can join in.
  2. Open Invite - (O.I.) - These are events that are seeking as large a turnout as possible. The organiser should still put some degree of context in the description, but these events generally are aimed at numbers rather than an exact historical context. An open invite show should not be taken as a licence to turn up un-announced, Always contact the organiser if you wish to come to one of these events.
  3. Restricted Open Invite - (R.O.I.) these events generally have a more specific requirement than "OI" shows, usually, but not always, by virtue of historical period.
The organiser should list his exact requirements in the description, for example, "Nelson Navy Only" or "High Authenticity Circa 1715-1725" If you wish to take part in one of these events, you may be required to provide proof that you can meet the requirements, or conform to a "Kit List" issued by the organising society.
  4. Invitation Only - (I.O.) - These events require only a limited number of participants, these have been contacted directly by the organising society.
  5. Volunteers Wanted - (V.W.) - The organising society require a limited number of additional people, usually with specific costume or equipment/abilities. The description should give exact details of the additional personnel required.
