Bonaventure

Location
South coast UK, with members from Devon to London.

Bonaventure is one of the UK’s leading maritime living history societies, portraying English seamen from 1560 to 1815, from the days of Drake to Nelson. Although Bonaventure usually portrays seamen of the Royal Navy we have been known to hoist a black flag and go on the piratical account from time to time. We have an excellent working relationship with the Golden Hind replica ship in Devon, and operate our own 20’ ship’s boat.

Boat

As pirates we are the proud host group of the annual South West Pirate Festival, held at Morwellham Quay in Devon. The SWPF is the largest and oldest gathering of pirate reenactors in the UK.

Council of war

Throughout all our events Bonaventure strives for a high level of historical accuracy, and we take pride in our attention to detail. Even when portraying pirates we work hard to depict pirates as they really were, rather than in the way Hollywood has portrayed them over the years.
